Born and raised in the shadow of Disneyland, Chris doesn’t especially care for amusement parks, palm trees, backyard pools (or any chlorinated pool, really) or light beers. As a young man, he couldn’t leave the Southern California ‘scene’ fast enough and has lived in Northern California since the Carter administration with his bride, Marcia and their [now grown] children together with at least a couple of rescue dogs. He cooks, writes, hikes, and frequently opens wines before their ‘peak’ dates. He’s not big on cocktail party conversation, prefers foreign films to blockbusters, never pierced his ear when it was cool for older guys to pierce their ears, has no tattoos, and still mows his own grass. The only reality TV shows he watches are SF Giants baseball games. His art collection (www.jbthompsonart.net) will never be insured for millions (but he still likes the works) and he marvels that his music collection allows him to listen continuously for months without hearing the same track twice. He occasionally writes freelance pieces, hosts dinners with friends, and always celebrates responsibly. When he drinks beer he doesn’t always prefer Dos Equis but that just means he’s not THE most interesting man in the world.
He’s occasionally surprised when someone mentions actually having read this blog (while he’d welcome a steady gig writing a column he never envisioned that people would actually read this one). You can hire him if you want but you’ll have to promise your check will clear the bank and there won’t be any cocktail chitty-chat required. Write below if you have a project or a feast that needs a little attention and describe what you have in mind. If you’re thinking of him for something more ‘corporate’ than a contract, you should probably find him on LinkedIn (where he occasionally remembers how to tie a tie, polish his shoes, and all those other more corporate things…).
